Access will be closing on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, SE from the 11th Street Bridge starting at 10 pm tonight through 2 am tomorrow morning.
(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will be closing the access to Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, SE from the 11th Street Bridge starting at 10 pm tonight through 2 am tomorrow morning. Good Hope Road, SE from Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, SE to Anacostia Drive, SE will also be closed during this time.
These closures will allow DDOT to switch traffic onto the newly constructed 11th Street Bridge located over the rail road tracks and southbound ramp to Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, SE.
During the closures, signed detours will be posted.
Detour
- During the closure of the existing southbound ramp to Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, SE motorists will be detoured to southbound I-295 to access Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, SE via Howard Road, SE.
Traffic control measures will be in place to provide advance warning about the lane closures and guide motorists through the detour.
In the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen conditions, this work will be rescheduled and an updated advisory will be distributed.
This closure is in addition to the previously publicized off-peak closures of the 11th Street bridges, related ramps, local streets, and I-295/DC 295.
