Road Closures and Intermittent Traffic Stoppages for Good Hope Road 

Good Hope Road Between Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and Anacostia Drive Will be Closed Tonight Starting at 6 PM

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will close Good Hope Road, SE, from Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, SE to Anacostia Drive, SE starting at 6 pm tonight through 5 am tomorrow morning.

(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will close Good Hope Road, SE, from Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, SE to Anacostia Drive, SE starting at 6 pm tonight through 5 am tomorrow morning. Motorists will also encounter intermittent 10 minute traffic stoppages on Good Hope Road, SE between Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, SE and Anacostia Drive, SE between 7 am and 5 pm on Tuesday, February 7 and Wednesday, February 8. These road closures will allow DDOT to demolish the existing flyover ramp over Good Hope Road, SE.

During the closures, signed detours will be posted.

Detour

  • Motorists seeking access to Anacostia Drive, SE from areas east of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, SE will be directed onto Minnesota Avenue, SE and onto Nicholson Street, SE.
  • Motorists seeking to access Good Hope Road, SE from areas along Anacostia Drive, SE will be directed to Nicholson Street, SE and then onto 22nd Street, SE to access Good Hope Road, SE via Minnesota Avenue, SE.

Signage will be in place to provide motorists advanced notice of the scheduled detour.

In the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen conditions, this work will be rescheduled.

This closure is in addition to the previously publicized off-peak closures of the 11th Street bridges, related ramps, local streets, and I-295/DC 295.
