Master EducatorsWhat is the Master Educator Program? The Master Educator Program is a critical component of the IMPACT assessment performance assessment system and was developed in response to feedback from DCPS teachers. In over 50 focus groups held during the 2008-2009 school year, DCPS teachers consistently expressed their desire to be evaluated by an objective content expert in addition to being evaluated by their administrators. The program was launched in the fall of 2009, and now includes over 40 master educators across 13 content areas. What is a master educator?Master educators are expert practitioners who as serve as impartial evaluators, conducting observations of all DCPS teachers. Following each observation, master educators conduct a one-on-one conference with each teacher to dialogue about specific areas of development. Teachers will also receive targeted, content-specific feedback and resources to help improve their effectiveness.
