On behalf of DC Public Schools, I would like to thank you for participating in our Annual Beautification Day. This year 4,100 of you from organizations and communities across the DC metro area beautified 105 public schools. In addition to cleaning, painting and gardening, some of you also helped our teachers set up classrooms and unpack boxes.
Without your participation, Beautification Day would not have been such a success. We hope that you continue your involvement in our local schools throughout the year as a volunteer. Every hour of this time is much appreciated, and well worth it in the lives of our students. Thank you.
D.C. schools get a fresh start, thanks to volunteers

Hundreds Clean Up DC Schools on DCPS School Beautification Day
"More than four thousand volunteers turned out to spruce up a hundred D.C. public schools on the annual DCPS School Beautification day. Teams of volunteers came from the White House, D.C. police, the Washington Capitals and their fans, churches and community groups. Both Schools Chancellor Kaya Henderson and D.C.
