2003 National Cherry Blossom Festival

Mayor Williams and DC citizens and visitors kick off this year’s National Cherry Blossom Festival. More than 700,000 people visit Washington, DC each year to mark the beginning of spring and the tourism season at the festival, which commemorates the 1912 gift to the city of Washington of 3,000 cherry trees from Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo, Japan.
