Mayor Williams was elected president of the National League of Cities for 2005 in Indianapolis, Indiana, becoming the first from the nation’s capital to hold such post. Councilman James Hunt from Clarksburg, West Virginia, was elected 1st Vice President and Indianapolis Mayor Bart Peterson was elected 2nd Vice President by the membership.
