On January 5, Mayor Williams presented singer Roberta Flack with a lifetime achievement award at the 19th Annual Mayor’s Arts Awards. The ceremony was hosted by Mayor Williams and media personality Jim Vance of NBC-4 TV at the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts. The Arts Awards program was established in 1981 to honor outstanding accomplishments of individuals and organizations concerned with the arts in Washington, DC.
