Mayor Tests Visual Warning System for Restricted DC Airspace

Mayor Tests Visual Warning System for Restricted DC Airspace

Mayor Williams toured the new Visual Warning System established by the Federal Aviation Administration to help warn pilots who fly into the restricted airspace around Washington, DC. The ground-based system will beam red and green lights into the cockpit of aircraft that enter the restricted zone and whose pilots cannot be reached by radio. Mayor Williams tested the system by riding in a helicopter to inspect the visual warning system.
