Statement of Mayor Anthony A. Williams on Management Agreement for Greater Southeast Hospital
"Throughout the summer, the District Government has worked closely with Greater Southeast Hospital and others who share our commitment to providing high quality health care to residents east of the Anacostia River.
"We have helped Greater Southeast with its cash flow and have worked to address long-term financial management issues. The Hospital is now moving toward bringing on a management consultant specializing in Hospital turnaround. This move has my full support. I believe this is an important next step in the Hospital's financial turnaround.
"As I said the day we signed our partnership agreement, I want this Hospital to have a chance to compete on a level playing field. We have honored our commitment to the Hospital, and will continue to fight for health care for our residents."
