Reporting Instructions For District Government Employees For April 17, IMF/World Bank Meetings

(Washington, DC) -- Mayor Anthony A. Williams announced today a liberal leave policy will be in effect on Monday, April 17, for all non-essential District Government employees. Liberal leave means that employees will be permitted to use unscheduled leave, with the exception of essential employees, as well as employees from the following public safety agencies: Police Department, Fire Department, Emergency Management Agency and the Department of Corrections. All staff from these agencies should report for scheduled duty.

Employees reporting for duty in the downtown area are advised to take Metro to work, to minimize street traffic and due to garage closings, including One Judiciary Square.

At the recommendation of District and federal law enforcement officials, individuals are advised to avoid travel to the downtown Washington area. Those driving into the area should expect significant traffic delays, as streets will be closed from 12th to 23rd Streets and from Constitution to K Streets. Private businesses within these areas may not be accessible due to expected traffic delays.

District employees with questions concerning reporting duties should contact the Emergency Management Agency office at (202) 727-6161.
