Mayor Williams Makes Wager With Mayor of Tampa
On Redskins Playoff Game

(Washington, D.C.) - Mayor Anthony A. Williams made a wager today with Tampa, Florida Mayor Dick Greco on the upcoming Redskins versus Tampa Bay playoff game. The two Mayors announced their bets during a conference call at One Judiciary Square.

Mayor Greco of Tampa wagered a box of fine cigars and a case of Florida Citrus. Mayor Williams rolled out the red carpet with a first class weekend in our beautiful city. The District's wager included:

  • Overnight accommodations in the Four Seasons Hotel (Washington's only AAA Five Diamond Hotel), and roundtrip limousine transport between the airport and the hotel.
  • Dinner for four at the Four Season's Restaurant, with wine selected by the maitre'd.
  • Lunch at the famous Ben's Chili Bowl (U Street Corridor) with Mayor Williams personally accompanying Mayor Greco to Ben's.
  • Dinner for two at two of Washington's great restaurants, Bistro Bis and Kinkead's Restaurants.
  • Two tickets to a Kennedy Center performance, and if the theater is dark the tickets will be for either the Ford Theater or National Theater with limousine transportation to and from the performance.
  • Two tickets to a sporting event at the MCI Center plus unlimited play passes at the National Sports Gallery with roundtrip limousine transportation.

"And just for good measure, we'll throw in an autographed jersey signed by Dana Stubblefield, an autographed football signed by Pro Bowl player Brad Johnson and Stephen Davis' Redskin's warm-up suit," said Mayor Williams.

Mayor Williams is confident that the Redskins will win Saturday's game.

Not wanting to look as if they were lacking in confidence in their Buccaneers, Mayor Greco increased his wager this morning to include:

  • Accommodations for three nights at the newly opened Ybor Hilton Garden Inn in historic Ybor City, Tampa in the Dick A. Greco Suite.
  • Accommodations to ride with Mayor Greco in the 95 year old, Southwest Airlines Festival/Gasparilla Parade of Pirates attended by approximately 500K people on February 5, 2000. Or, if unavailable, an offer to ride with hi in the Krewe of Sant' Yago Illuminated night parade in historic Ybor City (an event as big as the day parade).
  • Dinner at some of Tampa's many fine restaurants.
  • Dinner at Mayor Greco's home to include Tampa Bay Buccaneer personnel, coaching staff and players.
  • Basket of Tampa Bay Buccaneer "goodies".
  • A helicopter tour of the Tampa Bay area and their famous Florida West Coast beaches.
  • Tickets to Busch Gardens, the Florida Aquarium and several other local attractions of Mayor Williams' choice
