Statement of Mayor Anthony Williams on Timely Distribution of Paychecks
"Our employees are responsible for providing first-class services to District citizens. They deserved to be paid on time. Anything less is simply unacceptable and reflects poorly on our entire government.
"My first priority is to ensure that those employees expecting a paycheck are paid immediately. I hold myself and all District employees accountable to our citizens. Therefore, I'm committed to making sure we keep pushing forward to meet our citizens' expectations of an improved government. I've asked our CFO to conduct a quick and thorough internal audit to determine how this problem arose and institute a means to prevent it from happening again. Those immediately responsible for this mistake will be held accountable for their actions."
