Salting to Continue Along DC Streets Until 9 pm
Today's intermittent snowfall accumulated nearly an inch across the city, much of it already reduced to powdery slush by salt and moving traffic.
The DC Department of Public Works (DPW) will keep 63 salt-spreading trucks in operation until after the evening rush hour, continuously salting narrow and hilly residential streets, as well as bridges and overpasses. Due to falling temperatures during the night, some residential streets may remain slippery in spots until tomorrow morning.
Leslie Hotaling, Interim Director of DPW, said that her department will keep trucks working on residential streets until approximately 9 pm.
